Hermann Gucinski

Dr. Hermann Gucinski is a retired scientist and avid lightweight backpacker, living in Asheville, NC. Hermann was the Assistant Director for Research-Global Change at the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station, in Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to being responsible for the Southern Global Change Research Work Unit in Raleigh, NC and contributing to the USDA Forest Service Global Change Program, Dr. Gucinski used to oversee the Forested Wetlands and Bottomland Hardwoods Research Work Units in South Carolina and Mississipi and other related Southern Research Station work. Before moving to NC, he was the Program Manager for Ecosystems Processes Research with the USDA Forest Service PNW Research Station, in Corvallis, Oregon. Dr. Gucinski holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from SUNY, following an M.S. in Environmental Systems Management from The American University, and a B.S. in Physics from SUNY
