Join Our Community

We invite you to join the community of conservation professionals, scientists, educators, journalists, and citizens sharing experiences and innovations in Data Basin. Data Basin is a user-driven application, which means we rely on your knowledge and expertise to make it dynamic. Here are some of the ways we encourage you to participate in our community:

Join Data Basin

The Conservation Biology Institute partnered with ESRI to bring you Data Basin. Becoming a registered user of Data Basin (including ESRI Global Account setup) is free and gives you full access to your own workspace where you can create, share and learn.  All publicly available content is available for download or use with Data Basin mapping and analytic tools. We ask you to fill in a short profile when you join so that colleagues and other users can engage with you.  It's easy to create an account.

Support Data Basin

Data Basin is a collaborative effort to build and maintain a data-driven and community-based platform connecting conservation science and practice.  We have benefited greatly from financial donations, as well as contributions of expertise.  Some ways you can help may include:
  • Provide professional expertise to Data Basin.  From legal services to branding guidance, to web design, Data Basin has benefited from these services provided at little or no cost.  Contact Us.
  • Donations will enable us to build new tools such as enhanced visualization (i.e. animation) and analytical tools (i.e. raster tools), and other important system functions. We welcome one-time donation as well as on-going sponsors.
  • Funding one or more workshops or webinars for your organization, business clients, or customers.  For example, Dr. Dominique Bachelet conducts workshops on the interpretation and use of climate change science in decision-making using Data Basin.
  • Sponsorship for the development of Data Basin Centers (focused content on specific topics (e.g., Climate Change) or geographies (e.g., Boreal Zone of North America). Please help us fund the maintenance of existing centers or perhaps sponsor a new one.
