We've finally returned from presenting Data Basin at 2 separate conferences - the 2009 ESRI User's Conference in San Diego, and the Society for Conservation GIS meeting in Big Bear, CA. At both conferences, we gave live demos of the redesigned version of Data Basin powered by ArcGIS Online & Server technology (more on this later).

We're pretty excited about the amount of interest in Data Basin, and many of the folks who came to our demos had some excellent ideas about how this tool would better enable them to do their work. It's nice to know that we are building this (with generous support from our sponsors and business partners) to address real needs in the conservation community and beyond. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk with us at both conferences!

As we announced at both conferences, we hope to launch sometime in fall 2009 - which we realize is a long time to wait after getting everybody excited about it. If you'd like to see a live demo in the meantime, please let us know at databasin@consbio.org to schedule something. During the coming weeks, certain aspects of our main site at databasin.org may appear broken as we migrate our tool to the new technology. Please forgive us for the few hiccups you may encounter - better things are on the way soon!
